According to the latest report, China has made a new announcement in regards to its policy for population control. China has reportedly made the announcement for its new population policy on Monday, May 31, 2021.
China has recently made huge decision-making amendments to its population control to fight off a huge situation it is currently facing. According to the announcement, the Chinese Government has made an amendment to the two-child policy.
Now, the citizens in China have to adhere to the three-child policy. The government of China has permitted Chinese citizens to have up to three children. The reports suggest that the Chinese Government has made this decision after assessing the dramatic population situation in the country.
The reports suggest that the Chinese population has started experiencing a decline in recent years. As of now, the overall population of China is around 1.39 billion, making it the largest country in the world by population.
India is currently the second-largest country in the world with a population of 1.34 billion. As a result of the population decline in the country, China is expecting it would soon come down to the second spot of having the highest population in the world.
The reports confirm that approval for the three-child policy was given by President Xi Jinping during the politburo meeting. President Xi Jinping has reportedly chaired the politburo meeting and gave the official approval.
The government of China had reportedly initiated the two-child policy in the country back in 2016. The two-child policy came after a long-running one-child policy that was in effect in China for 36 years, starting from 1979 until 2015.
China had imposed the one-child policy back in 1979 to tackle the constant surge in the population of China. Even after putting the one-child policy in place, China ended up getting ranked as the country with the largest population in the world.
Although China lifted the one-child policy in 2015 and implemented the two-child policy in China, still it did not help the country. As it is very expensive for families to raise children in China, therefore, families have refrained from raising families.
Therefore, the population in China is still restrained and China is desperately trying to deal with the situation as soon as possible.
At the beginning of the running month, it was revealed that China has experienced one of the slowest population growth rates ever since 1950. The data shows that the fertility rate in China for the year 2020 was 1.3 children per woman.
The data shows that China’s fertility is similar to that of Italy and Japan, countries that have aging societies.
