According to the latest reports, Tesla is in the process of providing its technology to a new facility in the United Kingdom. Many have claimed that with the help of Tesla, the new facility would serve as the largest and most powerful hub in Europe for EV charging.
The UK authorities have also shared the reason why they have asked Tesla for help. According to the authorities, the demand for electric vehicles has been on the rise for the past few years. Due to high demand, electric vehicles have been increasing on the roads and cities significantly.
With the rising number of electric vehicles, it is extremely important to have huge depots where electric cars would be charged. This is the reason why the authorities in the UK are trying their best to add more charging units to the infrastructure.
Therefore, the authorities from the United Kingdom have sought support and guidance from Tesla, which is an expert and veteran in this field. The authorities have revealed that in the coming years, they expect that the number would grow tremendously. This is where the new charging hub would prove to be of extremely high importance.
According to reports, the name of the new powerful hub is The Oxford Superhub. The site will be located at the English city’s south at a park and ride location. The Superhub is currently undergoing development and is aimed to launch towards the end of 2021.
Through this location, the electric car users will have access to chargers that would be fast and ultra-rapid. The project is going to prove one of the largest in the entire world and will be able to facilitate an enormous number of vehicles in the city.
There are several other entities involved in the development of the project. Some of the entities include EDF Renewables’ Pivot Power, Wenea, Fastned, and Oxford City Council.
The Oxford City Council provided further information on the development of the project on Friday, May 21, 2021. The council revealed that it would be using 16 chargers from Gamma Energy and 10 chargers from Fastned. Additionally, the station would also offer 12 Superchargers provided by Tesla, which would be powered by renewable energy.
The reports suggest that the government of the United Kingdom is set to become a carbon emission-free state in the next two decades. So far, the government of the United Kingdom has announced that no more gasoline and diesel engine vehicles will be sold from 2030.
After that, all new cards must have zero tailpipe emissions starting from the year 2035. The country is determined to achieve this goal, which is why it is expediting the process of launching supercharging hubs for the locals.
