For a very long time, the people of Hong Kong and Singapore had been anticipating the travel bans to be lifted. Just when things started looking normal and it was expected that the travel bans will be lifted, things have again gone south.
It was expected that Hong Kong and Singapore will be providing the data for the air travel bubble. However, the recent turn of events has again forced Hong Kong and Singapore to push back on their decision.
Hong Kong and Singapore both made the announcement on their decision on Monday, May 17, 2021.
According to reports, the travel bubble would be a phase where the travelers would be allowed to skip the quarantine. The reports had suggested that the travel ban would be implemented by both Hong Kong and Singapore starting May 26.
Unfortunately, the travel bubble has again ended up facing a delay due to the rise in COVID cases. The initial travel that both Hong Kong and Singapore had announced was back in November of 2020. However, due to the rise in COVID cases all over the world, the air bubble was put on hold.
Since then, air travel has faced several bans and the situation does not seem to be coming back to normal. The constant delays on the air bubbles have given birth to so many concerns among the travelers who are now unhappy.
However, both countries have provided clarification for their decision of delaying the air bubble. The health ministries of both countries have stated that they want their citizens and tourists to be safe and uninfected. Therefore, they will do whatever is necessary to ensure they play a role in controlling the spread of the COVID cases.
The transport ministry of Singapore clarified that they had to make this decision based on the rise in the COVID cases. Although countries are trying to control the situation, yet some cases are getting past the radar and are causing many problems.
The transport ministry of Singapore has explained that for now, the situation is not in their control. The health ministry and the health sector in the country are trying to control the situation at their best. So far, the country is not able to meet the criteria that would allow it to give the go for the air travel bubble.
The government of Hong Kong has also acknowledged the situation and has made a similar statement. The Hong Kong government has stated that for them, the most important thing is the safety of people.
Therefore, they cannot introduce any flexibility in terms of the traveling requirements and put the entire world in danger.
