It has been almost two decades since both Sony and Microsoft have been at each other. Both companies have been competing with each other in order to come up with a better product than the other has. Although Sony had launched its PlayStation almost half a decade earlier than Microsoft’s Xbox, yet it managed to give PlayStation a tough time.
Ever since its launch, Xbox has been competing with Sony PlayStation at a parallel rate. If Sony won the first round with PlayStation, then Xbox won the second round with Xbox 360. This is exactly what has been going on between the two rivals.
Ever since PlayStation had faced a defeat with its PS3 console against Xbox 360, Sony has made several improvements to show Microsoft it is not going to let Xbox reign the console gaming market.
This time around, Sony is taking the battle with Microsoft to the Chinese market. Sony has reportedly launched its PlayStation 5 console in China on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Sony has revealed that the Chinese will be able to get their hands on two different types of PlayStation consoles.
The first type would be the digital-only model and the second type would be the disc model for the Sony PlayStation 5. Sony has also unveiled that the price of the digital version is 3,099 yuan, while the price for the disc version is 3,899 yuan.
For now, Chinese console lovers can place pre-orders for the Sony PlayStation starting April 29, 2021. Sony will officially start selling the PlayStation 5 consoles through retail shops starting May 15, 2021.
In China, the mobile gaming or pc gaming industry mainly dominates the gaming industry. This is mainly because until 2014, gaming consoles were banned in China and the ban had been in place since the year 2000.
Although PS5 was officially launched globally back in November 2020, it just received approval from Chinese regulators to launch the product in late April 2021.
The major reason behind the delay is the long process of getting approval from the Chinese regulators. Another reason is the censorship laws that are very strict in China. Therefore, it becomes tiresome and a long process to get approval from China regulators to launch products in the country.
On the other hand, Microsoft has not made any announcement in regards to the launch of its new console in the Chines market. Similar to Sony, Microsoft also launched its new Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles in the month of November 2020.
However, the sources have confirmed that Microsoft has already received its hardware’s safety approval from China. Yet the company has not confirmed when it plans to launch its latest Xbox series in the Chinese market.
