As per the latest reports from China, the browser of one of the largest e-commerce platforms “Alibaba” has been removed from Chinese app stores. It has been reported that several app stores in China no longer have the Alibaba browser available.
It is being reported that the Alibaba browser is simply getting deleted from the Chinese app stores. The main reason behind the deletion of the Alibaba browser from the app stores is the current tussle between the Chinese government and Alibaba.
Initially, it was observed that the Alibaba browser was deleted from the android app store. However, it was later reported that the Alibaba browser had reportedly been removed from the app stores backed by Xiaomi and Huawei. As of now, no user is allowed or has access to download the UC Browser that is powered by Alibaba.
This information has also been confirmed by the owners of Xiaomi and Huawei phone owners. This information was confirmed by the owners through the reporting channel “CNBC”.
However, one of the owners of the Samsung phones confirmed that they were still able to access and download the browser for Alibaba through Samsung’s app store. On the other hand, the UC Browser for Alibaba can still be accessed through the app store of Apple.
The report was first issued and rotated by Financial Times to the entire Chinese public and other countries using the UC Browser. Before being taken off from the majority of the Chinese app stores, the UC Browser had become a target for one of the TV shows.
The TV show that heavily criticized the UC browser was CCTV, which is a channel based in China. The TV show criticized how Alibaba’s UC Browser was showing online medical advertising, which was misleading, to begin with.
In the show, the UC Browser was heavily accused of allowing private hospitals the ability to acquire the names of some of the best hospitals in China in keyword searches.
It confirmed that the private hospitals could get their hands on the keyword searches through a bidding process. Once the keyword was acquired by a private hospital, the users would be directed to the website of the private hospital, instead of the actual hospital.
Due to the above maneuver, the users would end up landing on the private hospital’s website, which people would end up visiting or end up being treated from.
Right after the show aired, Alibaba UC Browser’s spokesperson addressed the point raised in the show. The spokesperson stated that for Alibaba, the show holds a very high value, and right after the concern was shared, they themselves conducted the checks.
Since the show, they have done whatever they can do in order to correct the problems that were once there on the UC Browser.
